Units are represented by a card that shows its mana cost, attack strength, health, and any abilities. There are two basic kinds of units: Minions and Heroes. The former are expendable. The latter are not.

Overview[edit | edit source]

  • Every unit is defined by its attack strength (how much damage it deals), health (how much damage it can take), and abilities (what it can do beyond just smashing the enemy up).
  • Units cannot attack in the turn they were summoned in, unless they have the Charge special ability.
  • Units are generally summoned in the deployment area, unless their cards states otherwise or they have the Deep Strike ability.

Common abilities[edit | edit source]

  • Bloodtoll: An additional cost that MUST be paid to play the card. (Only applies when playing the card from hand.)
  • Bond: Applies an effect to itself and another friendly minion that persists only as long as both minions remain in play.
  • Bounce: Return to its owner's hand.
  • Charge: Can attack and move on the same turn it's deployed.
  • Charm: Charmed targets move towards the charming unit or tile. (Prevented by Root)
  • Damage Shield: Blocks the first damage dealt against this unit. (On damage effects like Poison are prevented by this.)
  • Deathhowl: Activates its ability on death.
  • Deep Strike: Can deploy anywhere on the battlefield.
  • Exile: Remove a unit from the game. (Will not trigger Deathhowl or enter Graveyard.)
  • Poison: Destroy any minion damaged by this unit's attack. (Damage Shield blocks this.)
  • Splash: Also damages all enemies next to whomever it attacks on its turn. (Will trigger Poison and other on damage effects)
  • Stun: Cannot attack, counterattack, move, activate triggered effects or use abilities.
  • Supremacy: Does something when on High Ground.
  • War Cry: Activates its ability when deployed to the battlefield.
